Ovation: K-Mart’s “Ship My Pants” Ad Goes Viral.

04/15/2013

I work hard to avoid watching commercials on television.  My favorite programs are recorded on my DVR specifically so that I can watch them at my convenience and fast-forward through all of the advertisements.  While there are occasional headline making commercials I, generally, don’t pay them much attention.

But, this weekend, I was made aware of a new K-Mart advertisement that’s gone viral.  I’m embarrassed to say that, while it’s crude and vulgar on an adolescent level, it makes me smile nonetheless.

While it certainly won’t increase the probability that I’ll buy clothing at K-Mart, the ad will certainly get attention for the department store chain.

“There’s no such thing as bad publicity.” – Unknown

The advertisement is getting mixed reviews and is considered controversial by some.  I think it’s harmless and silly.  What do you think?

  1. Oh snap! That commercial should have been played during the superbowl. That was too damn funny. Oh, nice place you got around here.

  2. I also avoid commercials like the plague – maybe this is why cable is so expensive?

I think its hilarious and perhaps a tad leaning to the vulgar side if one is more conservative. But the way the world is turning these days., it’s as you said, harmless and fun.
