Ovation: Happy Birthday, Lindsay Lohan.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan is, arguably, more famous for being famous than for the work that she’s done.  It seems that where Lindsay goes, trouble follows.  In and out of court, car accidents, shoplifting, rehab and rocky relationships, Lohan has, understandably, been fodder for tabloids and entertainment news programs for years.  It’s easy to forget that she’s also done some really good things.

And today is her birthday.

Born on July 2, 1986, Lindsay Lohan began a career as a child fashion model when she was only three years old working for the Eileen Ford Agency.  She appeared in more than sixty television commercials including ads for The Gap, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s and one of the Jell-O commercials with Bill Cosby.  In 1996, at the age of ten, Lohan became the third actress to play the character of Ali on the soap opera Another World.  In 1998, at the age of twelve, she gained recognition playing estranged twin sisters in the Walt Disney remake of The Parent Trap.  Her performances earned her widespread critical acclaim and several award nominations.  There’s been quite a few of them!

1998 – The Parent Trap
2000 – Life-Size
2000 – Bette (TV Series – Pilot)
2002 – Get a Clue (TV Movie)
2003 – Freaky Friday
2004 – Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
2004 – Mean Girls
2004 – King of the Hill (TV Series)
2004 – That ‘70s Show
2005 – Herbie Fully Loaded
2006 – Prairie Home Companion
2006 – Just My Luck
2006 – Bobby
2006 – Friendly Fire (Video)
2007 – Chapter 27
2007 – Georgia Rule
2007 – I know Who Killed Me
2008 – Ugly Betty (TV Series)
2009 – Labor Pains
2010 – Machete
2012 – Glee (TV Series)
2012 – Liz & Dick (TV Movie)
2013 – InAPPropriate Comedy
2013 – Scary Movie
2013 – Anger Management (TV Series)
2013 – The Canyons

In the second half of 2001, she took a break from acting to begin a career in music when Estefan Enterprises made a five-album production deal with her and she signed a recording contract with Casablanca Records.

In 2009 alone, Lohan launched a fashion line called 6126 that focused primarily on the production of women’s leggings, a line of self-tanning sprays called “Sevin Nyne” and became an artistic designer for fashion house Ungaro.

Currently, Lindsay is completing mandatory court-ordered ninety-day stay in rehab and is reportedly terrified of relapsing into addiction once she leaves.  Rumors circulating in cyberspace indicate that she plans to relocate someplace where she can stay away from the constant paparazzi surveillance that follows her every move.

I hope she has a happy birthday.

  1. She looks good for a fifty-four year old woman.
Lohan, the gift that keeps on giving.

  2. I’m not someone who follows this sort of stories, but this is one of the saddest in Hollywood. Fame and fortune without the help to handle it. See the difference between her and say Emma Watson?

Poor Lindsay. She is a wonderfully talented woman. I hope she finds her way.

    • I completely agree with you think that the state of a “child star” as they mature is a direct reflection on the child’s parents. Emma Watson and her parents are a successful example.

  3. Sadly, she has self-absorbed parents whose addictions and behaviors stemming from the addictions influenced her in all the wrong ways. I am hoping she finds a way to make it this time.

  4. Not that I am letting her off the hook for her travails, but I truly would hate to have the paparazzi following me around waiting for me to screw up. She would serve herself well to live far away from the limelight and only come to the city to work. It seems the actors/actresses who do that are out of the papers. Yet, she does need some maturing as well, as there is a lot of fire with her smoke and it isn’t hard for the paparazzi to find something.

    • Of course, you’re right. There are, literally, hundreds of young actresses who don’t have a problem staying out of the news. I think Lohan, as well as her handlers, thrives on it.
