Ovation: Laverne & Shirley Reunite After Thirty Years.

11/09/2013

Laverne-and-Shirley-laverne-and-shirley-23583312-360-270From 1976 until 1983, my family and the rest of America enjoyed the antics of Laverne & Shirley.  The show was a spin-off from Happy Days and starred Penny Marshall as Laverne De Fazio and Cindy Williams as Shirley Feeney, single roommates and friends of Fonzie who worked as bottlecappers in a fictitious Milwaukee brewery called “Shotz Brewery.”

Now, thirty years later, Marshall and Williams will reunite for guest appearances on the Nickelodeon sitcom Sam & Cat.  On the episode titled “#SalmonCat”, scheduled to air tonight, Marshall and Williams play a feuding team of television producers who had created a popular 1970s sitcom called Salmon Cat.  Now Sam and Cat must track them down to resolve their feud so the young women can keep the name of their similar-sounding babysitting business.

There was much speculation that Marshall and Williams had a real-life feud while working together all those years ago, but both have said most of those reports were just rumors.  Maybe tonight, thirty years later, they’ll show the world that they can get along.

  2. I think I lost my first comment in cyberspace. When Laverne and Shirley double dated Richie and Fonz on Happy Days may have been their funniest episode. Penny Marshall went on to have a bigger impact as a director.
