Ovation: The Fifteen Year Anniversary Of Britney Spears’ “… Baby One More Time”.

01/30/2014

britney-one-more-time-650When it comes to pop music, many superstars have one defining song … a big hit for which they will always be remembered.  Sometimes it’s their only hit but more often than not it leads to a larger fan base and further success.  Sometimes it’s their first single and the world knows that it’s in for something special.

On January 30, 1999, just two months after her seventeenth birthday, Britney Spears claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with her hit single “… Baby One More Time”, the title track from her debut album of the same name, the best-selling album by a teenage solo artist.

Fifteen years, seven more albums, two short-lived marriages, two children and endless tabloid headlines, a few years off, and some time as a television talent judge on The X Factor, the former Mouseketeer appears to be entering a new phase of her career as she begins a Las Vegas residency show called “Piece of Me” at Planet Hollywood Resort.

It will be interesting to see what Spears, who has won awards from most music industry organizations including the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards and the Billboard Awards, will do in the next fifteen years.  After all, she’ll only be forty-seven years old and she can already teach her younger peers a thing or two.

Are you a Britney Spears Fan?  Can you believe it’s been fifteen years since she released “… Baby One More Time”?
